Your help to sustainable health and redesigning your body
Most of us have experienced cravings. Cravings can be good for our health as it tells us what our bodies need. However when we walk past something that smells really good, but maybe is not something we “want” to eat. Like freshly baked cinnamon rolls or a chocolate cake. Or maybe it’s french fries?
So what do you do to resist that craving? The other day I was watching Dr Oz and he explained something I thought was interesting. When you smell these great smells a hormon called Leptin is activated. Leptin is the hormon that both activates and diminishes the feeling of hunger. When we smell that yummy thing and our body starts craving it, the level of leptin goes up, and it will take a few minutes for the body to bring it back down. And that is what we want. We want the level of Leptin to come down again and the feeling of hunger and thereby the craving will stop.
In order to do this Dr Oz recommends smelling a grapefruit (or grapefruit essence). It is a pleasant smell, but not one which will bring the leptin level up and hopefully distract the body long enough for your leptin level to come down again.
So keep a grapefruit close by!
