What diet should I chose?

Almost every day someone asks me what diet I’m on. Or what do I think of this or that diet. Or do I eat carbs. And what should they do to have the best results for their health?

I always answer the same thing. Your body knows what it needs. All you need to do is learn to listen to it. There are so many different diets out there and most of them are actually quite good, even excellent, for some people. Is it good for you? Only you know. We are all individuals. Our bodies work differently depending on a lot of different factors. For exemple. Different bodies are more or less sensitive to insuline. Different bodies react differently to fatty foods. Different bodies are different, simply.

It is so easy to get caught up in the idear that one thing works for everyone. And that now the perfect diet is here. And if only someone else would tell me exactly what to eat. We forget that our bodies actually know. Of course then we have to stop and listen first. We would actually have to stop and really listen.

Now some of you might say: But I really don’t know what is good for me? Then these are my suggestions:

  1. Don’t buy in to any particular diet.
  2. Start out with thinking about when you last felt full of energy, happy, focused and strong. Now, what were you doing then?
  3. Decide you will eat at least three different vegetables of different coulours every day.
  4. Decide you will eat at least one fruit every day.
  5. Try to avoid white flour, i.e white bread and white pasta.

Now do this for a week and see how it feels. Chose maybe two days in the week when you will eat more fibres and proteins and a little less carbohydrates. How does that feel?

Of course there are things that our bodies will crave that isn’t good for us, such as goodies, sodas and cookies. However, even if your body craves it, your body can still feel if it would do it good or not.

So, once again, think about when you feel the most energetic, strong, focused and happy.

I’m not saying it is always easy to know what to eat and how to cook healthy great tasting foods. I’m only saying that the answer to what your body needs is not out there, it’s inside of you. Once you’ve found that, go out there and look for recipes and other kind of inspiration. And maybe help on how to stick to what you know is good for you. But your body has all the answers you need to create better health!
